PERTEMUAN ANTARA YB DATO’ SERI DIRAJA DR. ZAMBRY ABD KADIR,

MENTERI LUAR NEGERI MALAYSIA DAN TYT DR. VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN, 

MENTERI LUAR NEGERI REPUBLIK SINGAPURA

 

Pada 16 Januari 2023, saya telah mengadakan pertemuan dengan rakan sejawat, TYT Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Menteri Luar Negeri Republik Singapura sempena Lawatan Kerja beliau ke Malaysia dari 15 hingga 18 Januari 2023. Ini merupakan pertemuan rasmi pertama saya dengan beliau semenjak saya memegang jawatan sebagai Menteri Luar Negeri pada 2 Disember 2022.

Semasa pertemuan tersebut, kami berdua memperakui hubungan erat yang telah lama terjalin antara Malaysia dan Singapura. Sebagai jiran rapat serta anggota ASEAN dan Asia Pasifik, kami menekankan kepentingan untuk bekerjasama bagi mengukuhkan kerjasama dua hala dan meneroka kolaborasi menang-menang (win- win), termasuklah dalam menyelesaikan isu-isu tertunggak.

Kami turut komited untuk meneruskan penglibatan positif melalui mekanisme dua hala sedia ada dan menekankan penyelesaian isu secara harmoni dan mencari penyelesaian terbaik bagi memelihara hubungan baik Malaysia-Singapura.

Kami berdua turut berbincang bagaimana kedua-dua negara boleh memacu hubungan sedia ada ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi. Dalam hal ini, kami telah menyentuh mengenai Lawatan Rasmi YAB Perdana Menteri ke Republik Singapura yang dijadualkan pada akhir bulan ini, serta cadangan Lawatan Negara oleh Presiden Halimah Yacob ke Malaysia pada bulan Mac 2023.

Pertemuan ini mencerminkan hubungan yang telah lama terjalin serta usaha-usaha berterusan bagi mengukuhkan hubungan rapat sedia ada antara Malaysia dan Singapura, di bawah Kerajaan Perpaduan yang baharu.
