PRESS RELEASE : STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ON THE SITUATION IN GAZA, PALESTINE

STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

ON THE SITUATION IN GAZA, PALESTINE

Malaysia condemns in the strongest possible terms Israel's usage of live rounds, rubber bullets and tear gas on the protesters during the first anniversary of the Great March of Return rallies, which took place on 30 March 2019. At least 4 innocent Palestinian civilians were killed and more than 300 others were reportedly injured.

The continuous usage of force by Israel against defenceless Palestinian protestors is uncalled for and unacceptable.

Israel’s total contempt and disregard of the report and findings of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Protests in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, published less than a month ago, has only proven the intransigence of the Israeli government.

Malaysia therefore calls upon the international community to act swiftly and decisively to avoid further loss of defenceless and innocent Palestinian lives.
