THE OPEN-ENDED EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE OIC

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AT THE LEVEL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS

TO DISCUSS THE ONGOING ISRAELI MILITARY AGGRESSION AGAINST THE

PALESTINIAN PEOPLE, IN JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA

I am in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, leading Malaysia’s delegation to the Open-ended Extraordinary Emergency Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers to discuss the ongoing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people. The Extraordinary Meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as the current Chair of the OIC Executive Committee, and was attended by the Foreign Ministers and representatives of the Member States of the OIC.

During the Meeting, I delivered Malaysia’s statement, urging an immediate cessation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to be stopped immediately and stressed the need for the Israeli regime to cease the ongoing politics of dispossession, that is denying the rights and land of the Palestinian people. OIC Member States, the international community, especially States with influence need to find a solution in this direction. I also urged the international community to support the opening of humanitarian corridors to ensure the unhindered flow of aid to the Palestinian people.

The Extraordinary Emergency Meeting adopted a Final Communiqué, strongly condemning the unprecedented Israeli aggression against civilians. The Final Communiqué also stressed among others, the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression against the people of Palestine; the immediate lifting of the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip; and called upon countries and the international community to extend the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

In the latest incident, Malaysia also seriously condemned the bombing of the Al-Ahli Al-Arabi Hospital in Northern Gaza, causing many deaths including women and children as well as innocent civilians. This brutal act is clearly against human values and does not comply with international law.

As one of the founding members of the OIC, Malaysia remains committed to the Palestinian cause. Malaysia is prepared to participate in any international efforts to provide humanitarian aid and relief supplies to the Palestinians.

Malaysia is also actively holding discussions with world leaders to find the best way to stop the ongoing conflict and to find a present solution for the sake of a more peaceful and secure future for the Palestinian people.
