On Wednesday, 5 March 2025,
TYT Ambassador Hendy Assan met with Professor Vincenzo Buonomo, the Pontifical Delegate with the authority and power of Rector of the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
Among matters discussed include interreligious dialogue and potential future collaboration between the Embassy and the Centre for Chinese and Asian Studies of the university.
Established by the Holy See, the origins of the University dated back to the year 1627 when Pope Urban VIII founded the Urban College. The institution was then elevated to the rank of a Pontifical University by Pope John XXIII in 1962.
The university is a prestigious ecclesiastical institution in Rome, dedicated to the study of theological and ecclesiastical disciplines with a special focus on evangelization. It remains closely linked to the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Vatican. There are currently three Malaysian students pursuing their education at the university.
