Extension of validity period for Malaysian Passports Expiring in Year 2021

 

The Immigration Department of Malaysia has announced the extension of the validity period of Malaysian passports expiring in the year 2021 to be continued for another 2 years.

This decision is an alternative to assist and facilitate Malaysian abroad who faces difficulty in returning home to Malaysia due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The procedure for passport extension will be similar to the passport renewal procedure, as follows:

  1. Applicant is required to be present physically;
  2. The following documents are required (in 2 copies each, A4 size);
  • Recent photograph of the applicant (white background, size 3.5 by 5 cm)
  • For adult: copies of Identity Card, current passport (all pages); and
  • For children: copies of current passport (all pages), Identity Card of parents, Malaysian marriage certificate of parents, children's birth certificate and passport (for renewal)
