Malaysia-Croatia Bilateral Relations
Malaysia and Croatia established its diplomatic relations in 1992, after Croatia gained its independence from the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. The Embassy of Malaysia in Zagreb was established on 21 July 1994 at the level of Charge d' Affaires. In November 1995, Croatia reciprocated with the establishment of its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur at the Ambassadorial level.
In April 2003, Malaysia upgraded its representation in the Republic of Croatia with the appointment of His Excellency Dato’ M.N. Haji Azman as its first resident Ambassador. Subsequently, Her Excellency Aminahtun Haji Abdul Karim was appointed as the second Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic Croatia from December 2007 to June 2011. His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Yean Yoke Heng was appointed as the third Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic Croatia from from October 2011 to June 2014. Fourth Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia was His Excellency Dato’ Saiful Azam Martinus Abdullah who assumed his duty on 29 September 2014. His Excellency Ambassador Mohd Hassan Bal was appointed as the fifth Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Croatia.
His Excellency Kennedy Mayong Onon, the sixth Malaysian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, started his tour of duty in August 2021. He presented Credentials to the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Milanovic on 4 October 2021.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, bilateral relations between Malaysia and Croatia have been cordial and friendly. Cooperation was particularly evident in the exchange of support in the multilateral fields especially in supporting each other's candidatures in various international organisations, cooperation in higher education and training, as well in sports.
