OFFICIAL VISIT BY YB TAN SRI DATUK SERI PANGLIMA PANDIKAR AMIN HAJI MULIA, THE YANG DI-PERTUA DEWAN RAKYAT, TO HUNGARY 13-17 DECEMBER 2015

The Yang Di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat, YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia, made an official visit to Hungary from 13-17 December 2015.

 

The Yang Di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat was accompanied by four Members of Parliament: YB Datuk Raime Unggi (MP Tenom); YB Dato’ Irmohizam Ibrahim (MP Kuala Selangor); YB Mr. Wong Sze Phin (MP Kota Kinabalu); and YB Mr Hasbi Haji Habibolah (MP Limbang).

 

The delegation had an audience with the President of Hungary, HE Mr. János Adér. Issues discussed include climate change and concerns over the haze situation that affected Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

 

On the second day of the visit, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, HE Zsolt Semjén and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, HE Mr Péter Szijjártó.

 

The Hungarian Foreign Minister stressed on the importance of Malaysia as a partner in the ASEAN region, in line with Hungary’s “look east policy”. Therefore, Mr Szijjártó expressed hope for proposed agreements on areas of cooperation between the two countries to be materialised. 

 

All the meetings with the Hungarian dignitaries enabled both sides to exchange views on international issues of mutual interest namely migration, terrorism and climate change.

 

The delegation also met with the Hungary-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group which was established in November 2015.

 

The third day of the visit saw Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia being invited to a dinner hosted by Mr. György Gémesi, Mayor of the City of Gödöll?.


This visit was the most recent high-level visit from Malaysia to Hungary after the visit by Deputy Speaker of the Senate (Dewan Negara) YB Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie in June 2015.
