Hon. Minister was accompanied by Chairman of MPOB, Dato’ Sabri Ahmad, CEO of MPOC, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Yusof Basiron, Director General of MPOB, Dato’ Dr. Basri Wahid, several officials of Ministry of the Plantation Industries and Commodities and representatives of major Malaysian palm oil companies including Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd, IJM Plantation Bhd, Sawit Kinabalu Sdn Bhd. YB Minister was received in Mumbai by H.E. Dato’ Tan Seng Sung, Malaysian High Commissioner for India and the Consul General in Mumbai.

The POTS 2008 was a two day seminar which discussed various topic related to edible oils and fats including the global situation of edible oils and fats prices, oleo-chemical industries, palm oil applications and nutritional benefits. About 300 local participants comprising representatives of oil and fat companies and associations from all over India participated in the Seminar. POTS 2008 also featured a palm oil trade exhibition held simultaneously with the seminar. 14 companies and palm oil bodies both from Malaysia and India took part in the exhibition.

During his visit, Hon. Minister also had a bilateral meeting with Hon. Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of India, meetings with the State Trading Corporation of India, the Indian Merchants Chamber and the Solvent Extractors’ Association.
