Consulate team and Indian businesses came together for a recent seminar to further exchange information and seek partnerships. Organised yesterday in State of Maharashtra by Bombay Chamber Commerce and Industry and MATRADE, the event saw the participation of 20 Indian companies. From Malaysia side, MIDA, Tourism, MPOC and MAYBANK attended the seminar. Addressing the function, Director General Mr Vikas Gadre said that India is a big trade partner of Malaysia, with two-way trade hitting US$5.2 billion in 2014. Indian businesses have so far poured about USD $300 million into various projects in Malaysia.

During the opening remarks, Consul General said that “Malaysia is open for business” and hope to receive optimum support from India in all sectors especially infrastructure, medical equipment, pharmaceutical products and heavy industry, which are India's strengths, he said. With ongoing structural reforms and a Government committed to global growth, Consul General said there has never been a better time for Indian businesses to invest in Malaysia, as there is tremendous untapped potential. At the seminar, both MATRADE and MIDA made a presentation and followed by Q and A session. It was an interactive session where participants raised questions which were well answered by the speakers.
