Tour Visit to Karad Sugar Mill

 

Consulate team had a short trip and a brief visit to a Karad Sugar Mill on 28 January 2016. This tour was very informative. We were taken through the mill by your guide and have the process explained to us step by step and see up close how the crushing of sugar cane takes place. Indian sugar mills have contracted to export of 900,000 tonnes of the sweetener so far in the 2015/16 marketing season as factories in the world's second biggest producer try to trim their inventories. According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) Indian mills are exporting mainly white sugar to Asian countries like Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
