175th Session of the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Council on 12 June

Malaysia called for a permanent and effective ceasefire, and a political solution, to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people at the 175th Session of the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Council on 12 June.
This call, consistent with Malaysia’s position in support of Palestine and the Palestinian people, was made by Mr Abdul Rahman Abdul Wahab, Agriculture Attache and Alternate Permanent Representative to the FAO.
The statement recognized the high levels of food insecurity faced by the entire population in the Gaza Strip, and the catastrophic conditions which they are facing. The statement further called on the FAO, the wider UN system, and the international community of states to plan and be ready to scale-up humanitarian assistance. This includes assisting the Palestinian people in the medium and longer-term to address the wider humanitarian challenges, food security challenges, and rebuilding the food and agriculture system.
