179th Session of the FAO Council on 1 December
At the ongoing 179th Session of the FAO Council on 1 December, Mr Anwar Faiz Othman, Assistant Agriculture Attache, delivered two statements, one on behalf of the Asian Group, and the other in Malaysia’s national capacity, on the adjustments to FAOs Programme of Work and Budget 2026-2027. In both statements, the underlying message was that FAO operational focus and resources must remain on supporting member states on core FAO activities and technical cooperation.
He also delivered a statement on global food security challenges and drivers, including the situation in Gaza - whereby Malaysia called on Israel to implement its ceasefire obligations, the full and unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid at scale, and urgent attention to rebuilding Gaza’s agriculture system.
