Visit by Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI)
To discuss food security and ecological sustainability, the Embassy welcomed Datu Dr. Lulie Melling, Director of the Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI), Mr Siri Daha, Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, and delegation on 22 May.
Discussions centered on international collaboration, promotion and support from the Embassy towards the “15th International Sago Symposium” which TROPI is organizing in Kuching, Malaysia from 23-26 September.
The sago palm has a wide range of different uses, is robust, and can be a critical bioresource to address a number of global challenges.
