Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026
On 19 November 2025, the launch event for Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026, for Italy, was held at the Embassy. Held under the theme “Surreal Experiences”, VMY 2026 aspires to welcome 35.6 million international travellers and generate RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue. The event was attended by tour operators, travel agencies, airline representatives, and members of the media.
The event was officiated by Dato’ Zahid, together with Ms. Zalina Ahmad, Director of Tourism Malaysia Paris, who covers the Italy market. Guests were briefed on Malaysia’s key destinations, connectivity, and travel updates, to allow them promote Malaysia to the Italian market. They were also treated to a selection of Malaysian delicacies showcasing the nation’s diverse culinary heritage.
Malaysia welcomed 72,819 Italian visitors in the first nine months of 2025 and is optimistic of surpassing 80,000 arrivals by year-end. We look forward to welcoming even more Italian travellers in 2026.
