AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY
OF MALAYSIA TO JAPAN
H.E. DATO' KENNEDY JAWAN
H.E. Dato’ Kennedy Jawan began his career in the civil service in 1988 at the Ministry of Education and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia a year later in 1989. H.E. Dato’ Kennedy Jawan presented his Letter of Credence and assumed the post as Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan on 5 April 2019. Prior to this appointment, he was the Deputy Secretary–General (Multilateral Affairs) of the Ministry.
He previously served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Spain (2014–2017), High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa with concurrent accreditations to the Republic of Mozambique, Botswana, Kingdom of Lesotho, Kingdom of Swaziland and the Republic of Madagascar (2008–2013), Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington DC (2002-2005), First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Yangon (1995-1999) and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo (1992-1995).
While at the Ministry, he served various departments including Americas Division, Development Division, Finance and Development Division, East Asia Division, South Asia Division, and Western Europe Division.
H.E. Dato’ Kennedy Jawan graduated from Union College, Barbourville, Kentucky, USA with a Bachelor of Science in 1983 and later pursued his post-graduate studies in Master of Arts from Western Kentucky University, USA in 1985. He is married and blessed with three sons and a daughter.
