ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Bowling Tournament 2026
24 January 2026 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, led by H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, participated in the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Bowling Tournament hosted by the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Japan. This annual event convened ASEAN embassies in Japan and the ASEAN-Japan Centre, promoting camaraderie and goodwill through sports diplomacy.
In the spirit of friendly competition, Dato’ Shahril emerged as the winner of the Ambassador’s Category, while Mr. Azrim Zamri (Second Secretary) clinched the Highest Scorer title and Ms. Siti Safura (Ambassador’s Chef) secured runner-up in the Ladies’ Category. The Embassy’s team, comprising of Mr. Radzween Abd Razak (Minister-Counsellor), Mr. Ghulam Muszairi (Director-MIDA), Mr. Azrim Zamri, Mr. Suhaimi Talib (Local Staff), Ms Siti Safura and Mr. Adam Nor Azman (Embassy staff family member) secured first runner-up, finishing just 51 points behind the Embassy of the Lao PDR.
The tournament concluded with a prize-giving ceremony followed by a dinner reception, offering a valuable opportunity for networking and informal engagement among ASEAN missions and Japanese counterparts. The Embassy’s commendable performance highlighted strong teamwork and cooperation, while reaffirming Malaysia’s active and constructive role within the ACT framework.
