27 November 2025 – Mr. Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy delivered the opening remarks at the ASEAN-Japan International Tax and Forum organised by the ASEAN-Japan Centre and Asahi Tax Corporation. In his address, Mr. Zainal underscored the importance of deepening ASEAN-Japan cooperation amidst global challenges and shifting dynamics in trade, investment and taxation. 

He emphasised the need for meaningful dialogue and collaboration between governments and the private sector to navigate an increasingly interconnected, yet uncertain global landscape, particularly through strengthening investment frameworks, harmonising tax systems, and promoting sustainable business growth. Mr. Zainal also took the opportunity to highlight Malaysia’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) performance, especially the robust inflows into digital infrastructure and services, reflecting Malaysia’s growing position as a vibrant destination for digital, high-value, and service-oriented investments. This progress aligns closely with the forum’s objective of advancing cooperation in innovation-driven sectors.
