Public Diplomacy Programme at Yotsuya Junior High School

28 November 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia conducted a Public Diplomacy Programme at Yotsuya Junior High School, attended by 280 students and teachers. The session aimed to introduce Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage and promote greater intercultural understanding among young learners.

Mr. Jeffry Meyer, First Secretary of the Embassy, delivered an engaging presentation on Malaysia’s multicultural landscape. He highlighted the nation’s history, ethnic diversity, local cuisine, tropical fruits, and its unique flora and fauna. The programme also featured a short “Mari Belajar Bahasa Malaysia” session, where students learned simple Malay greetings and phrases, adding an interactive and enjoyable element to the engagement. A promotional video for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 was also showcased, offering students an insight into the country’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, and modern development.

In his remarks, Mr. Jeffry underscored the importance of respecting cultural differences and practising tolerance as essential values for building a harmonious, peaceful, and progressive nation. The programme successfully encouraged students to appreciate the value of diversity while sparking their curiosity to learn more about Malaysia.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, during which students expressed enthusiasm about visiting Malaysia and exploring its culture. The Embassy conveys its appreciation to Yotsuya Junior High School for providing this meaningful platform to enrich the students’ learning experience and to strengthen cross-cultural understanding.
