THE DEPLOYMENT OF UiTMSAT-2 AT THE JAXA TSUKUBA SPACE CENTRE, 3 FEBRUARY 2026

3 February 2026 – At the invitation of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, accompanied by Ms. Nora Azlinda Jaapar, Counsellor, attended a ceremony at the Tsukuba Space Centre, to witness the orbital deployment of three (3) CubeSats. Among the deployed satellites was UiTMSAT-2, Malaysia’s second university-built nano-satellite.
Develop by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) under the regional ASEANSAT project, UiTMSAT-2 represents a landmark collaboration between UiTM and prestigious institutions including the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan), the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (Philippines) and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand). The deployment underscores Malaysia’s growing leadership in nurturing regional talent in space technology and international scientific diplomacy.
As UiTMSAT-2 embarks on its mission to observe our Earth, let it be a reminder that through collaboration, we can do more than simply reach the stars and our potential in space is limitless. Let this be the future where we explore, innovate and thrive together. Congratulations to the entire team on this successful deployment.
