Head of Mission
HEAD OF MISSION
The Head of Mission is the Ambassador or High Commissioner (used in Commonwealth countries). He/She is the highest ranking diplomat of a country at an Embassy/High Commission. In the case of Malaysia, an Ambassador/High Commissioner is granted credentials by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) and represents the King and the Malaysian Government in another sovereign country. Prior to receiving the credentials, an agreement must be reached between the sending country and the host country. All diplomatic ranks are governed by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961) and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963).
