COFFEE BRIEFING AT SEOUL FOREIGN CORRESPONDENTS’ CLUB
After the summer break, the Seoul Foreign Correspondents’ Club (SFCC) was back in action and this time, the conversation was all about a question that continues to shape Northeast Asia: Could the US and DPRK be heading towards renewed engagement?
The two-hour Coffee Briefing held on 3 September 2026 brought together Prof. Kim Jaechun of Sogang University and Dr Cheong Seong-chang, Vice President of the Sejong Institute, for an engaging discussion on the prospects, challenges and possible implications of renewed US-DPRK engagement for the Republic of Korea.
The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul joined the session on behalf of Malawakil Seoul, as the discussion explored the current geopolitical landscape, as well as the approaches, sentiments and readiness of Washington and Pyongyang to re-engage.
