COURTESY CALL BY THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCE OF MALAYSIA ON THE COMMANDER OF THE LEBANESE ARMED FORCES
LEBANON, 14 November 2025 – The Chief of Defence Force (CDF) of Malaysia, General Tan Sri Hj Mohd Nizam bin Hj Jaffar's courtesy call on the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), General Rodolph Haykal, at the Lebanese Armed Forces Headquarters in Beirut.
This visit is part of the CDF’s visit to Lebanon to assess the presence and readiness of the MALBATT 850-13 Contingent currently undertaking peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The meeting also symbolised the strengthening of defence relations between the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
During the meeting, both Commanders exchanged views on regional security issues, the situation in southern Lebanon, and the strategic role of international peacekeepers in stabilising post-conflict areas. The CDF also expressed appreciation to LAF for their continuous support of MALBATT’s deployment.
The Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces conveyed his appreciation to Malaysia for its consistent contribution to the UNIFIL mission since 2007, emphasising that MALBATT’s presence not only contributes to peace but also strengthens the confidence of the local community in the international community.
The courtesy call concluded with the exchange of mementoes and the signing of the visitors’ book.
Also present during the courtesy call were the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan; Joint Forces Commander of Malaysia, Lieutenant General Dato’ Zahani bin Hj Zainal Abidin; Joint Forces Commander of the RBAF, Colonel Pengiran Noor Rumaizi bin Pengiran Othman; Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Malaysia in Beirut, Mr Johan Arief Jaafar; Commander of MALBATT 850-12, Colonel Johan Effendi bin Hj Mohd Shalleh; and Commander of MALBATT 850-13, Colonel Hj Mohd Rizwan bin Abdullah.
