ENGAGEMENTS AND OUTREACH ON MALAYSIA’S ASEAN CHAIRMANSHIP 2025, 28 FEBRUARY 2025
On 28 February 2028, Ambassador Azri hosted a luncheon for the Asian Ambassador’s Group. The luncheon was attended by the Ambassadors of Australia, Pakistan, Korea, India, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia and the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon. The Asian Ambassador’s group also bid farewell to the Ambassador of Indonesia to Lebanon, His Excellency Hajriyanto Y. Thohari.

During the luncheon, Ambassador Azri briefed the attending Ambassadors on Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening ASEAN’s centrality, promoting regional economic integration, reinforcing peace and security cooperation, and driving sustainability and digital transformation.

The briefing also underscored Malaysia’s emphasis on inclusivity and sustainability, particularly in energy transition and the green economy. Ambassador Azri further elaborated on Malaysia’s efforts to enhance intra-ASEAN trade, expand economic partnerships, and reinforce regional economic resilience.

In addition, Ambassador Azri provided insights into the outcomes of the recent ASEAN Retreat, including discussions on key regional and global issues such as peace and stability in the South China Sea and the ongoing situation in Gaza. He also highlighted Malaysia's 2025 Chairmanship priorities, focusing on inclusivity and sustainability, particularly in energy transition and a green economy.
