EVACUATION OF STUDENTS FROM DAMASCUS THROUGH BEIRUT, 25 JULY 2012
Fifty eight Malaysian students from Damascus were safely evacuated by air from Beirut on 25 July 2012. They were escorted from the Lebanon-Syria border crossing at Masnaa to Beirut by officials from the Malaysian Embassies in Beirut and Damascus and Lebanese security officials. They were met upon their arrival in Beirut by the Malaysian Ambassador to Lebanon, His Excellency Ambassador ILANGO KARUPPANNAN and officials from Beirut. The students were provided with food and refreshments for the breaking of fast at the Embassy of Malaysia in Beirut, before their departure.
The students will arrive in Kuala Lumpur in two batches on Thursday, 26 July 2012. The first batch of 16 students will arrive at 2.10 pm by flight QR 624 and the second batch of 42 students, by flight QR 622 at 8.40 pm.
