Meeting with UNIFIL Force Commander Major-General Paolo Serra

 

 

His Excellency Ambassador ILANGO KARUPPANNAN met with Major-General Paolo Serra, Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on 5 November 2012 at the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, south of Lebanon.

 

 The aim of the visit was to discuss the security situation in Lebanon and in particular the assessment of UNIFIL. During the discussion, UNIFIL Force Commander briefed Ambassador the overall state of security situation in south Lebanon. The discussion also touched on the latest developments regarding the proposal to relocate Malaysian Contingent (MALCOY EAST 8) from Kawkaba to Tibnin.

 

Ambassador ILANGO KARUPPANNAN was accompanied by Col. Zainal Abidin M. Said, Commander of MALBATT 5 and Lt. Col. Hamdan Ismail, Commander of Malaysian Contingent (MALCOY EAST 8).
