NEW YEAR GREETINGS CEREMONY, LEBANON, 20 JANUARY 2026
Mr Johan Arief, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Embassy of Malaysia in Lebanon, attended the New Year greetings ceremony hosted by His Excellency President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace on 20 January 2026, alongside members of the diplomatic corps and heads of international missions accredited to Lebanon. The event, organised by the General Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic, reflected Lebanon’s commitment to diplomatic engagement and international cooperation.
During the ceremony, President Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s dedication to peace, stability, and national cohesion. He emphasised Lebanon’s commitment to dialogue and coexistence, underscoring his vision to restore the country to its natural role and standing within international and United Nations frameworks.
The gathering also featured remarks by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the Papal Nuncio, who highlighted the importance of unity, reconciliation, and peace as achievable aspirations for Lebanon. The Embassy of Malaysia values such engagements as meaningful platforms to strengthen diplomatic relations, convey goodwill, and support Lebanon’s continued pursuit of peace and stability in the year ahead.
