TRAVEL ADVISORY: CYCLONIC STORM DITWAH IN SRI LANKA
CYCLONIC STORM DITWAH IN SRI LANKA
The Department of Meteorology of Sri Lanka has issued a red alert for Cyclonic Storm Ditwah in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, with severe weather expected to continue across the island on 28 November 2025. Very heavy rainfall exceeding 200 mm is likely in several provinces, accompanied by strong winds of 60–70 km/h and gusts up to 80–90 km/h. High risks of flooding, landslides, and falling trees remain, while sea conditions around the island are expected to be extremely rough. The adverse weather is forecast to persist until Sunday, 30 November 2025.
In this regard, Malaysians residing in or travelling to Sri Lanka are kindly requested to take the necessary precautions:
- Avoid unnecessary travel and follow instructions issued by local authorities;
- Stay alert and remain indoors if you are in high-risk or affected areas;
- Beware of fallen trees and power lines;
- Remain vigilant regarding the extreme weather situation; and
- For emergency assistance, please contact the local disaster management authorities
