Courtesy Call on the High Commissioner by the Governor of Niger State - 23 July 2020

 

 

HE Gloria Tiwet, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Nigeria received a courtesy call by H.E. Abubakar Sani Bello, the Executive Governor of Niger State at the Chancery of the High Commission of Malaysia on 23 July 2020. Also in attendance were the Head of Chancery, Mr Ahmad Benyamine Noor Rahimin and 2 other members from the private sector, one of which was Mr Adamu Atta, the Non-Executive Director of Coronation Merchant Bank.

The discussion during the courtesy call focused on the issue of palm oil, specifically on the proposed partnerships between the Government of Niger State, the local Nigerian private sector players who are interested in the development of the palm oil sector in Niger State with companies from Malaysia. The main areas of this proposed partnership are the upstream and downstream sectors, particularly the development of palm oil plantations, harvesting, refining , and also marketing. HE Abubakar Sani Bello stated that Malaysia, being one of the biggest exporters of palm oil and palm oil products can contribute immensely to the development of the palm oil sector in Nigeria and to close the gap between supply and demand in the domestic Nigerian market.
