EXTENSION OF EXPIRATION PERIOD OF MALAYSIAN PASSPORT FOR MALAYSIAN CITIZENS RESIDING ABROAD

Following the constraint of Malaysians to return home due to countries borders closure to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) agreed to allow an extension of the Malaysian Passport expiry period for two (2) yearsfrom the expiration date of the passport as an alternative to facilitate and assist Malaysians who are currently abroad.

 

This extension can be made manually at the Embassy of Malaysia subject to the conditions below: -

 

  1. Applicant should present at the Embassy for the extension;

 

  1. Extensions applies to passport that will expire in 2021 only;

 

  1. Extensions applies to passport holder who possess valid long-term visa/ pass in Nepal; and

 

  1. Other terms and conditions of passport renewal are still subject to JIM regulations in force.
