REGISTRATION OF MALAYSIANS RESIDING IN OMAN
1. I am currently living/working in Oman. Do I have to register with the Embassy of Malaysia, Muscat?
Yes. Please bring along your original passport and two recent passport-sized photographs when you visit the Embassy. The registration form is available online via this link Registration Form. You may also mail the completed form to:

REGISTRATION OF BIRTH
2. My child was born in Oman. Can I register the birth of my child so that he becomes a Malaysian citizen? Where and how do I go about it?
Yes. A Malaysian child born in Oman may be registered at the Embassy of Malaysia, Muscat, on the following conditions:
i. The father of the child is a Malaysian citizen; and
ii. Registration is done within one (1) year from the date of birth of the child.
3. What documents should I bring?
Documents required for registration are as follows (both original and copy):
i. Passports of parents;
ii. Identification cards of parents;
iii. Birth certificate of parents;
iv. Proof of marriage; and
v. Birth certificate of child, or acknowledgement letter from the
hospital.
4. What if my child is already more than one year old? Can I still register?
Normal process as above still applies. The Embassy will forward the application to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara for its consideration. 5. Can I use my Malaysian Driving Licence / International Driving Licence in Oman?
At present, Oman and Malaysia do not have an arrangement to convert the Malaysian Driving Licence into Omani Driving Licence. Therefore, Malaysians in Oman are required to follow local laws and are advised to obtain a valid Omani Driving Licence.
6. I have a four-year old car and am planning to take the car back to Malaysia with me with the use of an AP. What are the procedures involved?
Approval for Import License (AP) for personal vehicles of Malaysian citizens working/studying overseas is subject to compliance with the following conditions:
i. the applicant has resided overseas legally for a minimum period
of not less than one (1) year;
ii. the vehicle is not more than five (5) years old from the date it is
registered for the first time up to the date the vehicle arrives in
Malaysia;
iii. the applicant has a valid driving licence in Malaysia or issued by
the country of domicile; and
iv. the applicant has returned to Malaysia for good.

IMMIGRATION AND VISA
8. I am planning to visit Malaysia as a tourist. How do I apply for a visa?
If you are an Omani or GCC citizen planning to visit Malaysia, you may get your Visa on Arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. For other nationalities, you may wish to refer to the link below from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia’s official website for visa requirement by country of origin:

9. I am currently residing/working in Oman. I have checked the link above and found that visitors from my country require a visa to visit Malaysia. How do I apply for the visa?
You may visit the Embassy of Malaysia, Muscat, (consular hours are from 9am to 1pm) and fill an application form attaching the following documents:
i. Two (2) passport sized photographs (white background);
ii. Original passport and two copies;
iii. Residence Card and two copies;
iv. No objection letter from company/sponsor;
v. Two copies of latest three-month bank statement (with
endorsement from the bank); and
vi. Two copies of return ticket.
