Malaysia has participated in the International Medical Tourism Exhibition & Conference 2013 (IMTEC) at Oman International Trade and Exhibition Centre (OITE) in Muscat on 8 – 10 April 2013. The Malaysian delegation was led by Dr. Mary Wong Lai Lin, Chief Executive of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Malaysia’s booth was participated by the representatives of MHTC, National Heart Institute, Golden Horses Health Sanctuary and Sime Darby Medical Centre.

The CEO of MHTC also hosted dinner and briefing for the representative of the media and press in the Sultanate on 8 April 2013, luncheon for the representative of travel agencies on 9 April 2013 as well a call on the Chairman of Treatment Abroad Committee of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Abdullah Al-Riyami. The CEO of MHTC also delivered a lecture entitled “Healthcare Travel, Malaysian Style – Taking A Step Beyond Global Norms” on 8 April 2013.

The Malaysian Health Tourism has attracted many Omani to seek medical treatment in Malaysia in recent years with the upswing trend of tourists arrivals. The Embassy with the cooperation of MHTC will intensify its efforts of further increase the number of medical tourist arrivals to Malaysia via its various promotion activities.
