On 23 May 2025, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Deputy Head of Mission received a courtesy call from Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President and Chairman of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), who is also a former Provincial Minister of Punjab.

During the meeting, Mr. Ibrahim briefed Mr. Syafik on UMT’s academic programs, institutional development, and its ongoing contributions to higher education in Pakistan. He also expressed interest in exploring avenues for academic partnerships and faculty exchanges with Malaysian institutions.

Mr. Syafik welcomed the briefing and noted Malaysia’s keen interest in expanding educational cooperation with Pakistan. He highlighted Malaysia’s world-class higher education system and emphasised that Malaysia remains a preferred destination for international students, including those from Pakistan.

In this context, Mr. Syafik shared information about scholarship opportunities offered by the Government of Malaysia, including the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS). These initiatives aim to support talented Pakistani students in pursuing advanced studies in Malaysia and to strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations that would foster mutual academic excellence and deepen bilateral relations through education.
