HIGH COMMISSIONER ATTENDS DAIKIN RECONNECT 2026 IN ISLAMABAD

On 11 August 2026, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, attended Daikin Reconnect 2026 as the Guest of Honour at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The event marked a new milestone in the cooperation between Daikin and MIA Group of Companies through the introduction of local Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly of Daikin air-conditioning products in Pakistan.

The event brought together representatives from Malaysia, Japan and Pakistan, including Mr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman of MIA Group of Companies; Mr. Toshiharu Tsunomaru, Chief Operating Officer of Daikin Malaysia; representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad; members of the HVACR industry; as well as distributors and business partners from across Pakistan. The programme also featured the unveiling of locally assembled Daikin products.

In his remarks, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf highlighted MIA Group’s longstanding presence in Pakistan’s air-conditioning industry and the significance of its partnership with Daikin. He described the move towards CKD assembly as an important development in expanding Daikin’s presence in Pakistan, with the potential for the product range to be progressively expanded in the future.

Meanwhile, the Chief Operating Officer of Daikin Malaysia described the establishment of the CKD assembly line as an important step in strengthening Daikin’s long-term presence in Pakistan. He highlighted that the initiative would go beyond local assembly by facilitating technology transfer, knowledge sharing and the development of local capabilities, while maintaining Daikin’s global standards of quality and performance. The initiative is also expected to contribute to employment opportunities and the development of technical expertise within Pakistan’s HVAC industry.

Speaking at the event, H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan highlighted the significance of the initiative as an example of trilateral cooperation between Malaysia, Pakistan and Japan. He recalled Malaysia’s own industrialisation experience, including its longstanding cooperation with Japan, and noted the potential for similar partnerships to support Pakistan’s industrial development.

The High Commissioner also highlighted the strong economic relationship between Malaysia and Pakistan, noting that bilateral trade stood at approximately USD1.8 billion last year. He expressed hope that initiatives such as the Daikin–MIA collaboration would create further opportunities for Malaysian participation in Pakistan’s supply chains and contribute towards expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

The establishment of local CKD assembly reflects the growing commercial linkages among Malaysia, Pakistan and Japan, particularly in the areas of manufacturing, technology and energy-efficient solutions. It also underscores the potential for greater private-sector collaboration and investment to complement the longstanding friendly relations between Malaysia and Pakistan.
