HIGH COMMISSIONER OF MALAYSIA VISITS SWAT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL COOPERATION

On 7 August 2026, H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, paid an official visit to the Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of Malaysia’s continued efforts to strengthen bilateral economic and commercial relations with Pakistan. The High Commissioner was warmly received by Mr. Noor Muhammad Khan, President of the Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with representatives of the local business community. Discussions focused on strengthening trade relations between Malaysia and Pakistan and exploring the economic potential of Swat, particularly in tourism, agriculture, mineral resources and opportunities for international partnerships. Both sides also discussed educational opportunities and scholarships, as well as potential business-matching initiatives between Malaysian and Pakistani companies. Key sectors identified included handicrafts, fresh fruits such as peaches and persimmons, furniture and wood-based industries, marble and gemstones. The meeting further explored the possibility of organising exhibitions to showcase products, services and investment opportunities from both countries, providing a platform for businesses to establish meaningful commercial partnerships. Tourism cooperation was also highlighted, including the importance of improving connectivity between Malaysia and Pakistan, with discussions on the potential for direct flights, particularly from Islamabad and Lahore. The High Commissioner also emphasised the importance of facilitating visa arrangements for tourists and ensuring efficient visa processing, including the availability of Multiple Entry Visas for eligible business travellers. The High Commission of Malaysia looks forward to continued engagement with the Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry in fostering stronger people-to-people and business-to-business ties, thereby contributing to closer bilateral relations and a stronger long-term partnership between Malaysia and Pakistan.
