ASEAN CHAIRMANSHIP 2025: MALAYSIAN FOOD GALORE
September 16, 2024
Consulate General Malaysia in Karachi hosted special dinner, "ASEAN CHAIRMANSHIP 2025: Malaysia Food Galore”, to celebrate Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025 and also to mark ASEAN Day that was celebrated on 8 August.
Consul General, Mr Herman Hardynata Ahmad in his remarks, said “Malaysia is privileged to assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, a responsibility that symbolizes Malaysia’s commitment to regional cooperation, peace, and prosperity. ASEAN remains a cornerstone of stability and progress in Southeast Asia, and under Malaysia’s leadership, we will continue to strengthen the bonds that unite our nations. As we look ahead, ASEAN will face many challenges, but through collaboration, shared goals, and trust, we will ensure that our region thrives”.
The dinner, however, was not just a celebration of Malaysia or ASEAN—it was a celebration of unity, diversity, and friendship. The ASEAN spirit is one of cooperation, and this is something that Malaysia also values deeply in existing relationship with Pakistan.
CG Herman also took opportunity to express his sincere thanks to Assistant Professor Mohamed Fadzly Che Omar, a talented Malaysian chef from UCSI University, for preparing the wonderful dishes that were enjoyed by the guests- Diplomatic Corps, Friends of Malaysia, Malaysian diaspora as well as Malaysian students in Karachi. Chef Fadzly’s presence during the event was a continuation of the Jom! Malaysia Chalo! event that took place at Dolmen Mall, where the Consulate showcased the richness of Malaysia through education, tourism, and, of course, Malaysian cuisine.
