DINNER RECEPTION IN CELEBRATION OF THE 67TH NATIONAL DAY OF MALAYSIA

Consulate General Malaysia in Karachi hosted Dinner Reception in celebration of the 67th Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia at Marriot Hotel, Karachi. Honorable Mr Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor of Sindh graced the event as the Chief Guest. Others present were Mr Irfan Soomro, Director General of Foreign Affairs’ Liaison Office Karachi, Heads of Foreign Mission, Malaysians in Karachi, think tanks, members of business community and media personnel. Chief Guest was welcomed and received by the home-based staff with ‘Silat Pembuka’ performance.
The reception was started with the National Anthem of Malaysia ‘Negaraku’ and National Anthem of Pakistan ‘Pak Sar Zameen Shad Bad’, and remarks by Consul General.
In his remarks, Consul General reflected on the deep-rooted and enduring bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan. The relationship has continued to grow over the years, and despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the relationship emerged stronger, more determined, and more connected than ever before. He further stated that, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi has been working tirelessly to strengthen Malaysia’s presence in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi. The connection between the two nations is not only about diplomacy but also about the people-to-people ties that form the backbone of the friendship. “Karachi and Kuala Lumpur are key cities that hold immense potential for collaboration in a wide range of sectors”, he added.
Consul General also announced that the Malaysian government has approved the opening of a trade office in Karachi, which will commence operations in mid-October 2024. The new office will serve as a hub for fostering deeper economic cooperation, creating new opportunities for businesses, and boosting trade and investment between the two nations.
During the event, guests were served with an array of ‘special’ cuisines, specially prepared by prestigious Chefs of Marriot Hotel Karachi, and the highlight of the night ware ‘Rendang Daging’, ‘Nasi Goreng Telur’ and ‘Pisang Goreng’. Excellent Chef!
While having dinner, guests were entertained with martial-art performance by Sindh Pencak Silat Association, followed by special Silat performance by the Consul General. The Chief Guest was amazed on the effort that has been put on the smooth Silat performance and he personally came on the stage to praise the Consul General.
The event was a success and received positive responses and wide coverage from the local media.
