TASTE OF MALAYSIA
3 September 2026
The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi, in collaboration with Biz Today International, hosted a special culinary event, “Taste of Malaysia”, at the Karachi Marriott Hotel, bringing together distinguished guests and friends of Malaysia to celebrate the close and enduring friendship between Malaysia and Pakistan.
In his remarks, Mr. Mohd Yunus Ibrahim, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, highlighted that food has the unique ability to bring people closer, as it needs no translation. Although Malaysia and Pakistan are geographically apart, both countries share many common values, including strong family traditions, warm hospitality and a deep appreciation for food.
The Consul General highlighted Malaysia’s rich and diverse culinary heritage, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences. He also noted that Pakistan boasts a vibrant culinary tradition, with dishes such as biryani, nihari and kebabs reflecting its rich culture, family traditions and renowned hospitality.
He emphasised that the purpose of “Taste of Malaysia” was not to compare Malaysian and Pakistani cuisine, but rather to discover what both cultures have in common while appreciating their unique flavours and traditions. Guests had the opportunity to savour a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes and experience the richness of Malaysia’s multicultural culinary heritage. The Consulate General of Malaysia (PERWAKILAN Karachi) also showcased two traditional Malaysian delicacies, Roti Jala and Ketayap, which were specially prepared and served to the distinguished guests.
The Consulate General of Malaysia extends its appreciation to Biz Today International, the Karachi Marriott Hotel and all distinguished guests for their valuable support and participation in making the event a memorable celebration of Malaysia-Pakistan friendship.
