Question:     Are we allowed to travel to Malaysia during this pandemic?

 

Answer:        Malaysian: To-date there is no travel ban for Malaysian citizens to travel back to Malaysia

Question:     What is the required documentation to travel and where to apply?

From 1 May 2021, travellers to Malaysia are no longer required to submit the LOU to the Embassy prior to travel to Malaysia, or to the Malaysian authorities upon entry into Malaysia.

 

From 1 May 2021, travellers to Malaysia are also no longer required to obtain the Travel Clearance Letter from the High Commission. The Travel Clearance Letter is no longer a requirement to enter Malaysia (except if you enter Malaysia from Singapore by land).

 

Question:     Do we need to do a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test before flying?

 

Answer:        It is compulsory to show a PCR test taken within 72 hours before boarding and on arrival with negative results.

 

 

Question:     Can travellers be quarantined at home?

 

Answer:        Only travellers with health conditions with valid proof of documentation and approval from the Ministry of Health can be quarantined at home. Travellers may request for approval to be quarantined at home by e-mailing to: hso@moh.gov.my and c.c. to rayuancovid19@nadma.gov.my         

 

 

Question:     How much does accommodation cost for quarantine? Can I choose the hotel?

 

Answer:        Travellers can choose either basic or premium accommodation.

 

Malaysians: 100% of the hotel's maximum rate of RM150 per person per day, for a period specified by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

 

Non-Malaysians (including dependant): Maximum rate of RM150 per day per person, for a period specified by the Ministry of Health AND management charges of RM2,600.00

Question:    Can the quarantine and PCR payment be made online?

 

Non-Malaysians:  you will have to pay online before arrival and present the booking receipt upon arrival.

 

Malaysians: you are recommended to pay online to avoid any delays but you can also pay upon arrival if you wish.

 

If a third party is paying on behalf of the traveller, proof of receipt must be shown upon arrival.
