On 02 July 2026, Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh held a meeting with the Regional Director of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Region XI, Arch. Sherilla Porza-Sawah at the Chancery Office.
The meeting focused on coordinating the logistical arrangements for the transport, deployment and distribution of humanitarian assistance to be contributed by Fo Guang Shan, the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) and Sin Chew Foundation Malaysia for communities affected by the recent earthquake on Balut Island, Davao Occidental.
Both sides also discussed the mobilisation of available resources and inter-agency coordination to facilitate the timely and efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance to the affected communities. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Malaysia and its partners together with NCMF to ensuring that relief efforts are carried out effectively and reach those most in need.
