EVACUATION OF MALAYSIANS FROM YEMEN
JEDDAH – The Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah had thus far coordinated and assisted the safe return of three groups of Malaysian students from Yemen, totaling to 240 students.
The Consul General, Mr. Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak, in his brief interview with the media stated that he headed a four members team from the Consulate to receive the first group of 154 students and Malaysians whom arrived by 4 buses from Sana’a -Hodeidah at Saudi border in Jizan on 5 April. The second group of 67 students were assisted when they arrived from Djibouti via C130 at King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah on 14 April and the last group of 19 students which arrived by bus from Sana’a to Jizan on 29 April.
All the students were assisted upon arrival in the immigration process, lodging, meals and facilitating their return to Malaysia from Jeddah.
According to the Consul General, as of to date more than 700 Malaysian citizens in Yemen had been evacuated from four cities in Yemen, namely Sana'a, Hodeidah, Aden and Hadhramawt. He also thanked all quarters involved in the evacuation of the students from the conflict-stricken country and those who had prayed for their safety. He reiterated that his team is ever ready to assist and facilitate any further evacuation.
