JEDDAH — The Consulate General of Malaysia bowling team had a field day in the Asian Consul Generals Club (ACGC) Bowling Tournament 2014, winning the overall team championship at Jeddah Lanes here Saturday.


The bowling tournament, which was hosted and organized by the Consulate General of Malaysia, saw 10 teams (Brunei, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Singapore) out of 13 ACGC member countries vie for honors here. Each team participated in the team event category had 4 men and 2 women. There were also special individual categories for consul generals and spouses.


After a thrilling three-hour bowling fiesta, Malaysian Consulate team, captained by Consul General Mohammed Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak, clinched the team title with the Philippines at the second spot and Brunei third. The Malaysian Consul General also claimed the honors in the Consul General Category and Madame Aniza Khalid cornered more glory for Malaysia by taking the runner-up prize in the Spouse of CG category. Madame Omega Garibay from the Philippines emerged champion in this category and Madame Lies Dharmakithy from Indonesia won the third place.


The Philippines took top two positions in the men’s individual section, followed by Malaysia (third). Brunei emerged champion in the women’s individual category with the Philippines taking second spot.


An award presentation ceremony was held where Consul General Mohammed Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak extended his thanks and appreciation to all his ACGC colleagues and families who participated in the event exhibiting true sportsman-spirit and made the event a thrilling and memorable one. ACGC, which comprises 13 member countries, is an informal group that had been created to promote closer cooperation, understanding and relations among themselves by organizing informal gatherings and sports events in Jeddah. The ACGC Consul Generals presented the prizes to the winners.
