History
- Historically, Malaysian Mission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia operated as a Consulate in Jeddah and named as "Federation of Malaya Consulate". The Consulate was believed to begin its establishment in 1958 through the finding of the Consulate's seal dated 24 August 1958.
- On 1 September 1963, the Federation of Malaya Consulate in Jeddah was elevated to be an Embassy.
- In 1985, the Embassy of Malaysia moved its operation to Riyadh while the Malaysian Mission in Jeddah remained and operated as a Consulate General, beginning on 5 September 1985.
- The Consulate General's office was originally located at the Al-Ruwais District, Jeddah and was moved in May 1992 to the present location at Lot 241, Al-Mualiffin Street, Al-Rehab District, 21421 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
- There are four other agencies established under the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, namely the Immigration Department of Malaysia, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Tourism Malaysia and Lembaga Tabung Haji.
- Other than Makkah and Madinah, the entire western region of Saudi Arabia is under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, which covers geographical areas from Tabuk in the north to Jazan in the south.
