2ND ASEAN FOOD AND HANDICRAFT 2013, STOCKHOLM, 21 SEPTEMBER 2013
The Embassy of Malaysia in Stockholm, Sweden jointly organized with ASEAN embassies in Stockholm the 2nd ASEAN Food and Handicraft 2013 at the Embassy of Malaysia and the Embassy of Thailand on Saturday, 21 September 2013. The Embassy of Malaysia was the venue for the promotion of handicrafts and tourism and the Embassy of Thailand was the venue for the opening ceremony, food promotion and cultural performances.
The grouping of ASEAN embassies in Stockholm comprises of embassies of Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. H.E. Dato´ Badruddin Ab. Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Sweden and Datin Noor Mah Mahmud joined the ASEAN Heads of Missions and their spouses in welcoming all guests, to the one-day event.
The event was filled with fun activities of demonstration of traditional handicrafts, cultural performances and savouring of traditional foods and fruits, as well as lucky draws at the stalls of the respective embassies. The event was a success with around 200 people enjoying themselves to the singing, dancing and other activities. Traditional Malaysian dishes such as nasi lemak, mee goreng, sate, kueh jala, teh tarik, and pisang goreng were prepared by members of PERWAKILAN Stockholm.In addition,fresh local fruits courtesy of Malaysia´s Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) were also served during the event.
The 2nd ASEAN Food and Handicraft 2013 has further promoted Malaysia to the Swedish public and instilled the spirit of friendship, solidarity and cooperation among ASEAN embassies and communities in Stockholm.
