ASEAN + 3 CONCERT FOR HM THE KING 19 JUNE 2010
A special ASEAN + 3 Concert to commemorate HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 61st coronation anniversary was successfully organised by Radio Thailand at the majestic Thailand Cultural Centre on 19 June 2010. It was the second concert to honour to HM The King for his avid interest in music consistent with the recognition given to him as a ‘Musician King’. H.E. Ong-art Klampaiboon, Minister attached to PM’s Office also attended the concert.
2. 20 singers from all ASEAN + 3 countries participated in the concert, bigger than its last edition in 2009. More than 20 staff from the Embassy of Malaysia also thronged the venue to watch and enjoy the concert including H.E. Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob to show our undivided support to the singer who represented Malaysia.
3. Malaysia was represented by Iqwal Hafiz Ismail. As a young artiste, Iqwal has proven himself in the arena when he was chosen to represent Malaysia in the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held annually in Hollywood. He did Malaysia proud by bagging 4 gold awards and 1 silver in the competition which has also witnessed other sterling performances from Malaysian renowned artistes like Syafinaz Selamat and Siti Sarah Raisuddin. In the concert in Bangkok, he put up an entertaining performance by delivering three solo songs “Sedang Ingin Bercinta”, Corazon Espinado, a Spanish song and She Bangs. He also appeared in the quartet rendition of Unbreak My Heart together with artistes from the Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam.
4. The overall mood was very positive and some of the staff from the Embassy seized the opportunity to take photographs with the artistes after the end of the show.
