CANCER CARE RUN, LUMPINI PARK, 29 JANUARY 2011

The Thai Red Cross Society had once again organised its annual charity fun run to raise funds for cancer research which was held on Saturday 29 January 2011 at the famous Lumpini Park, in the heart of Bangkok. The last edition was held in October 2009. It is estimated that nearly 2,000 people had participated in the said run.

2.         The Embassy of Malaysia’s team comprising of 22 runners including few children also participated in the said charity run. The team proceeded to the venue on foot as part of the warming up session. After the formal warming up session led by instructors from Fitness Innovation Thailand Ltd (FIT), the enthusiastic runners including those from the Embassy proceeded to the starting line and began their sweating session. Other than Malaysia, there were also few other Embassies such as Canada and the UK participated in the charity activity.

3.         It was rather unfortunate that none of the runners from the Embassy was able to bag any of the prizes offered as it appeared plain that the most promising runner from the group somehow did not perform up to his ‘’usual’’ performance. Anyhow, it was the sporting spirit displayed by the runners that really mattered. Symbolically, the direct participation by the Embassy also signified the importance of charity that the Embassy attached other than the usual day-to-day work.
