CHARITY VISITS BY THE EMBASSY IN CONJUNCTION WITH RAMADHAN 20 & 27 AUGUST 2011

In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok with the strong support of the Ladies’ Circle (PERWAKILAN) and the Sports & Welfare Club of the Embassy had undertaken two separate charity visits on 20 and 27 August 2011 respectively.

The first visit was organised by PERWAKILAN which took them to Safie Mariem Mosque in Prapadeng. 17 members of PERWAKILAN and their family members participated in the visit. The delegation was received by the Imam of the mosque together with 80 local peoples who live in the vicinity. Other than donating cash, members of PERWAKILAN had also contributed used clothes, bags of rice and some sundry items.

The activity was organised consistent with the long tradition observed by PERWAKILAN. After the formality was done, the delegation was taken for a short tour to the surrounding area including the nearby school for the orphanage.

Meanwhile, the Sports & Welfare Club of the Embassy had also undertaken a different visit to Darul Ibadah Mosque in Minburi on 27 August 2011. About 10 members of the Club and their family members participated in the visit. The delegation was received by Bilal Hanafi and a number of local people in the village. The delegation from the Club brought along with them some cash donated by its members, Al-Quran, bags of rice and chairs for the use of the students in the nearby madrasah. The delegation spent a good one hour listening to the briefing made by Bilal Hanafi and taking a tour to the surrounding area.

Essentially, other than continuing the long tradition practiced for many years, the visits were done as a gesture of extending hands of friendship from Malaysia to the local people.
