GENERAL ADVICE FROM THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN BANGKOK
THE CURRENT SITUATION IN BANGKOK
The Embassy wishes to refer to the situation in Bangkok in connection with the on-going anti-government protest held in many areas in Bangkok.
2. Diplomats, tourists, the expatriate community and the public in general will not be targeted directly by the protesters. The Thai Government has also assured that the situation is under control. However, as a precautionary measure, the Embassy would like to advice fellow Malaysians travelling to and residing in Bangkok the following:
a) avoid from visiting the hot spots identified by the Thai authority particularly areas in Bangkok such as the Victory Monument, Ratchadamnoen Road, Democracy Monument, Government House etc. which have been traditionally used by the demonstrators to gather in large numbers;
b) Malaysians are urged to refrain from participating and/or showing support in any form to any parties;
c) There will also be inconvenience as a result of some major roads being closed;
d) continue to be vigilant and monitor closely the developments by following the news from local and international media (print and electronic); and
