LA KHON DATO’ HUSNI & DATIN NORSHIHA, 20 SEPTEMBER 2010

LA KHON DATO’ HUSNI & DATIN NORSHIHA

20 SEPTEMBER 2010

H.E. Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob ended his tour of duty as the Malaysian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand on 20 September 2010. He first arrived in Bangkok about 22 months ago, namely, on 24 November 2008.

2.         In honouring his sterling services, the Embassy hosted a special farewell luncheon which was attended by all staff of the Embassy. That was also in line with the tradition of the Embassy in honouring any of its outgoing personnel. In his farewell speech, Dato’ Husni seized the opportunity to thank everyone for the cooperation extended to him, Datin Norshiha and the Embassy as a whole which in turn made it possible for the Embassy to collectively and successfully organise historical events such as State Visit by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, 4th Annual Consultation, various ASEAN-related Summits and meetings etc. He expressed his hope that the staff of the Embassy will keep up with the good work and strive for better performance in the future.

3.         Without a doubt, the past two years have been very busy for the Embassy with various activities either formal or informal. The relationship with fellow Malaysians has been strengthened with various activities from golfing to other sporting activities as well as other nature of gathering such as makan-makan and religious activities. Scheduled visits to the less fortunate group of Malaysians who are languishing in local prisons have been beefed up following the synergy created with Kelab Malaysia – Thailand and Malaysian – Thai Chamber of Commerce. All these remarkable achievements were made possible under the leadership of Dato’ Husni who managed to galvanise all the resources made available to the Embassy.

4.         To Dato’ Husni and Datin Norshiha, we bid you our affectionate farewell and may we cross path again in the future. In Thai language – we say it La Khon lek je gan mai!

Sorry you're leaving, your loss will be greatly felt,
But we won't over-exaggerate and say our heart will melt!
It's really hard to say goodbye, to such a friend and pal,
With tears in eyes and lump in throat, Adios! Au revoir! Farewell!
