LECTURE BY H.E. DATO’ HUSNI ZAI YAACOB ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN MALAYSIA AT ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY, BANGKOK 9 FEBRUARY 2010

The Assumption University in Bangkok had invited Ambassador Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob to deliver a lecture on the topic of Trade and Investment Opportunities in Malaysia before a group of 100 students on 9 February 2010.
The programme was specially designed by the Department of International Business Management to enable its students to be exposed to views from other sources other than its own lecturers. The Embassy welcomes the invitation to engage with students in line with our aspiration to promote Malaysia to all parties in the host country. Assumption University, a private university with 20,000 students is located in a beautifully manicured campus about 20km from the city centre.

In rendering the lecture more interesting and lively, the presentation of the lecture was done in the format of panel discussion. Other than H.E. Dato’ Husni Zai, two other economic experts from the Embassy, namely Mr. Mohd Iqbal Mohd Noor, Economic Counsellor and Mr. Jai Shankar Suppayah, Trade Counsellor also participated in the lecture. During the one hour presentation, various issues relating to trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia were discussed and explained to the eager students. Few of them had also seized the opportunities to pose though-provoking questions to panelists such as the effect of AFTA on trade in Malaysia and in the region.

The Embassy certainly welcomes the above initiative which clearly augurs well with its economic and public diplomacy initiatives. It is hoped that more opportunities will be made available in the future for the Embassy to explain various other issues on Malaysia to interested audiences in Thailand.
