MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME
ALUMNI DINNER 2010
1 DECEMBER 2010
The Embassy of Malaysia hosted a dinner in honour of a total of 25 MTCP Alumni members and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand International Development Cooperation Programme (TICA) and the media at the Inter-Continental Hotel on 1 December 2010.
2. The annual dinner was held with the main objective of gathering as many as possible members of the Alumni so to strengthen the existing friendship and networking between them and members of the Embassy as well as other invited guests. As a matter of fact, members of the Alumni have always been invited to attend various social functions organised by the Embassy. In welcoming the invited guests, Mr. Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Raman, Charge d’Affaires a.i., underscored the importance of any gathering of this nature as it accorded the opportunity for members of the Alumni to mingle with the officers of the Embassy and other guests. The exchange of information and ideas that follow would, in turn, allow the Embassy to receive first hand feedback from members of the Alumni on how the programmes run under MTCP could be better organised in the future. He also thanked members of the Alumni and TICA for the continued support extended to MTCP and the Embassy for the past years.
3. The dinner held this year was special as 2010 marked the 30th anniversary of MTCP since its establishment in September 1980. In celebrating this auspicious occasion, a special cake-cutting ceremony was held where Mr. Syed Bakri together with Ms. Suchada Thaibunthao (Deputy Director-General of TICA) and Mr. Wacharapon Chotiyaputta as the representative of members of the Alumni were requested to cut a special cake ordered from the hotel.
4. The simple yet meaningful dinner ended about two hours later. It was obvious that those present had seized the opportunity to interact with each other judging from the warm and cordial atmosphere evident throughout the dinner.
